BIG Z : THE MIGHTY ZYDRUNAS

Call him whatever you want: Big Z, the big boy from Lituania or simply mister Savickas. The fact and matter is that Zydrunas Savickas has proven that he owns, if not totally, at least a good chunk of the Strongest Man in the world's title.
At almost 33 years of age (born on July 15, 1975), Zydrunas Savickas, the strongman phenom from Birzai, Lituania, has done it all, or almost. He has dominated and won six consecutive Arnold's Strongman Classics. He owns that competition. He holds almost all the strongman records. He has gone over the 1000 lbs (455 kg) mark in both the Super Yoke and the Hummer wheels' deadlift. He lifts the 525 lbs (239 kg) stones in repetitions. Rather impressive for a man who never practiced that event a few years ago. He presses overhead logs in excess of 425 lbs (195 kg). And he has won twice the IFSA Worlds Championships. But never has he won the World Strongest Man title, coming second on three occasions, twice behind his archrival, Mariusz Pudzianowski.

Ask Dr Douglas Edmunds, the founder, with David Webster, of modern strength athletics, who the strongest man to walk the planet is. He will tell you loud and clear: "Zydrunas is the One! "Ask Bill Kazmaier, one of the three strongest men of all times, and he will second the motion: " Savickas is the man." The same for Dr Terry Todd and other notables. Yet the world strength community is divided, somewhat a split decision between Mariusz and Zydrunas, depending on what measures will be favored to call the tale of the tape.
But no matter what is said, Big Z has convinced a great number that " there can be only one" and that he is just that : the Strongest! As you look at him closer, you will find a troubling resemblance with the legendary Louis Cyr, considered by a lot as the strongest man that ever walked the earth, bar none. Huge and humble. Graced with superhuman strength yet soft-spoken. With additional strength in reserve comes the ultimate challenge.
Zydrunas Savickas is the pride of Lituania and one of the world strongman community's greatest's asset. As he prepares to meet FORTISSIMUS' challenge, he knows that the climb will be steep and gruelling. Yet the mighty Zydrunas may well become Louis Cyr's modern successor.
