SEBASTIAN WENTA : ALL-AROUND STRONGMAN

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

The young boy from Tczew, in Poland, was good at almost any sport. But in 1985, back in elementary school, he didn't know which sport would be best form him. «I knew that I wanted to coach, just like my parents did, because I descend from a family with grass-roots in sport traditions», says Sebastian Wenta, the giant strongman from Poland. As a matter of fact, he always was up to his neck un competitive sports and, as it seems, educated with strong sports values. «My parents insisted very much on demonstrating ethics of work and sportsmanship» he adds. The mother, Barbara Wenta, was a world-class athlete, member of Poland's Olympics rowing team. As such, she participated in the 1976 Montreal summer Olympic Games. The father, Edund Wenta, is a long time coach, winner of numerous coaching achievements awards. One cousin, Kamila Skolimouska, is a Olympic champion in the hammer throw.

Sebastian Wenta carried the torch one step further. Helped by coach Krawczykiewicz, he learned hard and fast. He threw the disc, the javelin and got into volleyball. He had the height (6'7''), the reach, the power, the ability to jump. He developed into a masterful attacker. And he thought that he had find the sport that would bring him to Olympics. But from one championship to another, from Poland's Championships to the European Cup and to International Games, Sebastiant Wenta realized that he was attracted by strength related feats. He had heard a lot about two Polish powerhouses: one was Jarek Dimek and the other one, well, none other than Mariusz, strongman sport's superstar.

After 3 months of training, Sebastian Wenta overcame a field of 50 competitors and ended on top of an strongman elimination tournament in Poland. The rookie became an instant star. Loving tha challenge of Highland Games he entered the World Championships. He finished second. He was invited to the World Strongest Man's Super Series. He got the attention in 2006, making it to the finals. And, in 2007, as Mariusz Pudzianowski captured his fourth WSM title, Sebastian Wenta stood next to him on the podium as runner-up. Some kind of magic.
