ERVIN KATONA : A POWERHOUSE FROM SERBIA

At 6' 2 '' ( 1 m 88) and 341 lbs (155 kg) Ervin Katona stands a the powerhouse from Serbia. Not too much has been said about the Servian in America. This is mainly due to the fact that his battle grounds are in Europe and that his opponents are such greats as Zydrunas Savickas, Mickhaël Koklyaev and Andrus Murumets. Yet, in 2008, he holds his own and ranks amongst the top 5 on the strongman Champion's list.
Katona shows huge powerlift results with his 836 lbs (380 kg) deadlift and an 880 lls (400 kg) squat. Add a 418 lbs (190 kg) log lift and you get a total package. At the Strongman Champions Serbia Grand Prix (May 10, 2008), Ervin Katona was absolutely impressive. He was edged out by the great Savickas, but managed to beat Murumets, Kalinchenk and Kazelniks. On the stretch he managed to win 2 events, and came second in the yoke, the deadlift for reps, third in the Viking press.
The 3-time Serbia Strongest Man is also noted for having been finalist at both the Strongman World Championships in 2006 and 2007.
Ervin Katona is from Subotica, Serbia's fifth largest city with a population over 100 000. The name of the city first appeared in 1653, was renamed a few times through the ages only to regain its actual name in 1811. Subotica is known for some famous citizens, ranging from Nobel prize laureates to composers and sports notables.
Katona is totally dedicated to strongman sport. And as he puts it: "I give it all in every competition and I am proud to challenge the best at FORTISSIMUS. It is an honor for me to represent Serbia". No need for him to say more. He will state his case as he will go head-to-head with best in the world.
