MARK FELIX : HANDS OF HERCULES

The older he gets the younger he looks. One has to agree that, at age 42, Mark Felix has been gifted by Mother Nature. As probably was Odd Haugen. Tha man born in Grenada, West Indies, is now a British citizen. And a late starter in strongman events. At 6'4'' and over 300 lbs, he made his début as a professional strength athlete in 2003. Less than five years later, he has already made two World Strongest Man's finals, and has already qualified for the 2008 Mogegan Sun Grand Prix.
The man has to be exceptional. One year after entering the strongman's pro circle, he won the Britain Strongest Man's title. Quite an achievement for a former bodybuilder, representing Grenada. As only a few had succeeded that giant leap. One has to refer to such greats as Jon Pall Sigmarsson and Svend Karlsen as a matter of comparison.
At age 39 and counting, Mark Felix went into high gear. Over 30 competitions in the last three years making big time in Ukraine, the Bahamas, Brazil, Russia, China, Iceland, Poland, Dubai and of course, the USA.
Today, the man competing in a kilt is best know for his tremendously powerful hands. His deadlift is one of the best, bar none. Recently he went for over 1000 lbs (460 kg) for 3 reps on a partial lift and a near 800 lbs for 5 reps raw. Adding his awesome over 300 lbs Rolling Thunder's one hand lift at the IRONMIND's Championships at the Mohegan Sun's 2008 challenge.
The father of three, a former Carnival Cruise Lines' employee, Mark Felix has become one of the most familiar and admired figure in the world strongman community. And he will be one of FORTISSIMUS 2008's fans favourite. Very much because he deserves such recognition.
